This relationship was so amazingly complex and all too real, the situations and plot were very well designed.Jed is an interesting character in so many ways, struggling with his sexuality and the hell the people around him give him for it, and the blackmail his fake girlfriend holds over him. By the time he finally catches a glimpse of a break he's basically ready to explode and the deep stress he undergoes to get there - is very similar to the kind LGBT+ individuals suffer in real life. It can strike really close to home if that's so.Ryder is emotionally intelligent enough to own up to his own mistakes in the situation, especially when it comes to understanding his own sexuality and Jed's. In many ways he tries to hold everything together and it keeps falling apart, but here at least, there comes a point where it's not worth trying to keep it together anymore and that's okay, because you can still be happy.I think that's all important and relatable but the subject matter was definitely heavier. I loved reading it, but it's definitely not a light romance, it's tumultuous and twisted and things don't necessarily go well even if there is a HEA. It's a ride- and I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for that kind of thing! 3.75 starsI was worried how I would go with this one as I didn’t think I would like it, it I surprised myself and enjoyed it. The brothers relationship didn’t faze me as they weren’t blood related.Jed drove me crazy for a lot of the book, he was so impulsive and at times spoke up before his brain connected. He did get better as the book continued and I did understand the reasoning behind his unhappiness but just wanted him to grow up a bit.I liked Ryder and the fact he stuck by Jed.
